The weatherman had it wrong, imagine that... putting on the rainsuit over the leathers has become the morning norm. It was raining as we left Jasper, but the scenery was still beautiful. There were times, though, when we couldn't see the tops of the trees along the side of the road. We have seen pictures of the area, and we think there are majestic mountains somewhere behind the fog and mist.

We stopped at the foot of Mt. Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, for a quick bite to eat, and to dry off. Since neither of us have a full face helmet, we found some yellow camp towels to use as face shields. They worked great, protecting our faces from the wet, cold, and impact of freezing rain. Mt. Robson is a place we would like to visit during dryer times. We took a photo of a picture of the mountain. We will just have to believe that it really is there. |

Turning southward we worked our way to Kamloops, winding down from the mountains. We took several breaks to rest and to enjoy the area, which is a big change from what we have been traveling through. It reminded us of the high desert country of south central Utah. We saw something on this stretch of the road which we haven't seen for some time -- blue sky!
We made good time into Kamloops, stopping by the Harley Dealer there. They were good enough to work both our bikes into their service schedule for quick oil changes. We thought they might charge us double for bringing them such dirty bikes, but they didn't seem to mind. |

We decided to go with the good weather and beautiful evening and push on to Cache Creek, a little community at the north of Fraser River Canyon. That would mean we would tackle the canyon rested and energized. As we slowed to enter the town, Shirlene was stung on the upper lip by a bee! By the time we pulled into the motel to register, her lip was swelling. A quick ice pack seemed to help, but she had no sense of humor about the newly acquired deformity, and refused to have her picture taken. We ate in the room, food picked up from the restaurant at the motel--the best Greek food ever! The food, rest, and several benedryl helped restore Shirlene to her good nature -- but still no photo! |
