Day 5 -- to Salt Lake City, UT

It was another beautiful day on the Wasatch Front. After talking with the folks for awhile we headed once more to Salt Lake City. We planned to tour Temple Square but were concerned where we could safely park our bikes. We had become quite good friends with the fine folks at the Harley dealer (they loved the color of our money) so we decided to stop there first to ask if we could park there and take Trax into the city. They were happy to store our bikes for the day. Our bikes joined about 100 others in the back of this huge shop. We were able to see their Harley Davidson top fuel dragster. One of the staff, upon hearing we were headed to Temple Square warned us to be sure and watch our language there--no cussing!

We walked about a city mile to the Trax station and all agreed our riding boots made lousy walking shoes. We had a wonderful tour of Temple Square and the Conference Center. The temple is center to our faith and the site of weddings everyday. There were two couples on the grounds today having their pictures taken with the temple as a backdrop. The Center was quite impressive, and the view from the top was breathtaking. We rode and hiked back to our bikes and headed back to Spanish Fork where Tom and Dick cleaned and polished the bikes for our dinner party in Provo.

We arrived at our favorite Italian restaurant in Provo, Ottavios, ready for a fun evening with a dear old friend, Don Peterson and his family. As Dick and Tom parked the bikes Shirlene noticed someone very familiar walking toward the restaurant. This young woman looked back at Shirlene as if she knew her...and recognition hit them both at the same time. The young woman was Emily Brudney, another dear friend from Fortuna! Emily was with her roommate Rebecca, whose sister had served with Emily in the NY,NY mission. It was a wonderful surprise, and a great reunion. Emily sends her love to all her friends!

Dinner was wonderful. We got to meet Don's wife, Debbie, and Eric's wife, Jeannie. Eric and Jeannie are expecting their first child, a girl, much to the delight of the future grandma and grandpa. We spent two hours eating and talking and telling stories. It was great to touch base with good friends.
