We planned that today would be a day for family and catching up on chores. Dick and Tom took Shirlene to Orem to spend the morning with her mom, Darlene. Darlene lives with Shirlene's sister Marilyn Walton and her family. Marilyn was on her way to work, and jumped at the chance to ride to work in Harley style. Tom and Dick returned to Spanish Fork to get some packages of excess gear sent to Las Vegas, our next home base. Shirlene and her Mom met Dick, Millie, Clyde, and Tom in Orem for lunch at Fuddruckers, a great place for hamburgers. Hamburgers at Fudd's has become a tradition for the Robbins and the Hickens. |
After dinner Clyde, Millie, and Darlene posed in the parking lot for a picture. They showed us the traditional Utah greeting for Californians. As close as we can tell, it means California is #1! We spent the afternoon seeing the rest of Marilyn's family. Her daughters, Anne and Linda, and her son, Adam, had expressed a desire to ride. Tom and Dick were more than happy to give rides to any who wanted. Anne missed the appointment, but Linda was there with her roommate Melissa, who also wanted to ride. Adam showed up and got the first ride. He was thrilled. Linda and Melissa went second, and despite some expressed fears seemed to have a really good time. |

The day ended with a great dinner in Orem at Rodizio's, a Brazillian grill, with Marilyn and her husband, Gary. Marilyn had to get her picture taken on the back of the bike. The folks at her work couldn't believe she came to work on a Harley. They wanted proof to print in their newsletter. We will leave Spanish Fork tomorrow for Bryce Canyon. |
