Sleeping felt sooooooooooo good, we slept much too late. We were glad we took our time, because we got to see a slow-speed chase through the motel parking lot! We headed out into the desert close to noon. Again, the skies were overcast, which helped make the ride more enjoyable. We have been lucky this trip, and have avoided the extremes of weather which are so uncomfortable. |

We filled up near Sparks, realizing we were back in the land of high gas prices. We entered California, grateful to be so close to home. The trip has been marvelous, but our own bed will feel good. Travelling through the Sierras reminded us of our trip through the Rockies. Instead of the Colorado River, we followed the Truckee. We took a detour of the main route, in keeping with the theme of our trip, to ride Highway 40 on the shores of Donner Lake. We paused at the tribute to Emigrants in the Donner Park. Again, we were touched by the lives of those who made the westward expansion possible. We climbed up from Donner Lake, keeping up close and personal to the rocks of the Sierra. It was a fun ride!

We joined 80 west, and knew quickly we weren't in Kansas anymore! What a quick, rollicking ride. We curved up and down passes, all three lanes packed with vehicles of all sizes, 80 miles per hour. And then we hit the valley traffic. It was good to arrive safely, breathless, at the Travis Home. We were welcomed by our favorite Harley fans, Abby and Joey. We had a great supper with Hillary, Jason, and the kids. We love them very much, and always feel welcome here. Neither of us feel very well, so we will rest here one more day. It will give us a chance to play with the Harley Grandkids.
